The Republican Party is one of the two major contemporary political parties in the United States, along with the Democratic Party. Founded by anti-slavery expansion activists in 1854, it is often called the Grand Old Party or the GOP, despite being the younger of the two major parties. The party's platform is generally considered right of center in the U.S. political spectrum. The Republican Party has the second most registered voters as of 2004 with 55 million, encompassing roughly one-third of the electorate. Republicans currently fill a minority of seats in both the United States Senate and the House of Representatives, hold a minority of state governorships, and control a minority of state legislatures. Answered by Your Uncle Dodge! - Sun Jul 12 17:54:28 2009 Would you vote for Condi Rice for President of the United States if she were a member of the Democratic Party? Q. Most accept that Hilary hasn't a chance, but the Republican party would have trouble getting elected again even if Condi were their candidate. So our best chance of getting a good President is to draft Condi to the Democratic Party! Asked by BrendaWise - Sat Apr 29 19:39:03 2006 - - 11 Answers - 0 Comments A. Nice try, NO, Condi is intelligent, her major flaw in my opinion (aside from embracing republican ideology) is that she lacks integrity as evidenced by her continued support for Bush. Remember Colin Powell had the good sense to "bail out", why not Condi?...it's an integrity issue, she lacks it. Hillary can win in 2008, she's the country's only hope to clean up the mess Bush and his goons have made. Remember her closest confidant and adviser would be Bill. Q. If the goal of the Left Wing is to suppress the Republican Party completely in the United States, then what kind of opposition do they face after the Republicans have been eradicated? What guarantees can they make that there will not be a surge in Third Party involvement in the Political Arena? Asked by king_geoian13 - Tue Jul 7 22:13:35 2009 - - 8 Answers - 0 Comments A. It is not the Republican Party that should be replaced as much as the current leadership, which is so extreme that the moderate conservatives who gave it the majority have turned against them and voted for the only alternative. Traditional American conservatism does not deny the right of the People to take collective action the way the radical corporatists do, nor does it run huge deficits. It values personal freedoms and does not sanction unwarranted government intervention in the lives of others, while the evangelical fascists insist on their right to dictate the morals of others. We are out here still, but we refuse to be taken for granted. When the Republican Party finally gets the message it will purge itself of the idiots and… [cont.] Answered by david l - Tue Jul 7 22:25:51 2009 From Yahoo Answer Search: "United States Republican Party" |
