Buildings come in a wide amount of shapes and functions, and have been adapted throughout history for a wide number of factors, from building materials available, to weather conditions, to land prices, ground conditions, specific uses and aesthetic reasons. Buildings serve several needs of society – primarily as shelter from weather and as general living space, to provide privacy, to store belongings and to comfortably live and work. A building as a shelter represents a physical division of the human habitat (a place of comfort and safety) and the outside (a place that at times may be harsh and harmful). Ever since the first cave paintings, buildings have also become objects or canvasess of artistic expression. In recent years, interest in sustainable planning and building practices has also become part of the design process of many new buildings. From Wikipedia under the

In other words, how would you lower heating and cooling output of your existing AC/Heating? Doors, windows, and vents are already weatherized, and lighting, electrical Appliances, and plumbing fixtures are at maximum efficiency, and standard r-value insulation is installed around the building exterior walls.. In most homes, air infiltration is a common problem both in the winter and summer. In addition to the common places such as outside doors and windows, other culprits are chimneys and opening to attic spaces. Pull down stairs for attic spaces is a really big one. All you have to do is take a plastic trash bag and place it horizontally under a pull down stairs and see the result. Conventional doors that lead to stairs and attic spaces are typically no weather stripped and that is also a problem. Chimneys, even those with the dampers closed, are an avenue for a very large amount of heat to escape in the winter. Large overhangs on exterior walls to keep direct sunlight from the side of buildings is also overlooked in most cases. I'd like to obtain building plans for a building that is part of a public university. What would be the best way to obtain it? Is it legal/possible for a private citizen to obtain copies even if he has no legitimate reason to? Also, Are there different types of plans? Specifically I'm looking for whatever specifies the pressure of the concrete that was used to build it. Also, I am looking to obtain the plans that specify the walls and how they are laid out. Thanks in advance! Asked by Lyn E - Sun Apr 26 00:57:18 2009 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments A. The authority that would have the plans on file is the county tax supervisor. They have a process for obtaining plans, but nowadays your request would be considered highly suspect, and you would probably be denied. They might let you have them, but you would have to fill out some pretty detailed information about yourself and your reasons. And the fee runs around $15 per page nowadays. We won the first debate against the nuclear power plant. We now have to debate against the Residential area and I need some disadvantages of building a residential area outside of beijing. What are some advantages of building a water reservoir outside of beijing? Asked by YaoYao D - Tue Dec 16 18:27:33 2008 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments A. 1). You will alter the environment. I.E more transport routes around the area, an increase in the density of roads, rubbish sites etc in that areas. Endangerment of animals natural habit. Just like around any city. 2). Longer travel times to work, to go shopping etc. 3). May spoilt the countryside of Beijing. As for advantages of a water reservoir outside Beijing or any other town. In case of flooding damage maybe limited just to the countryside and not residential areas. In a city a reservoir could suffer more from pollution, so having it away from the city is better.
